What is the treatment?

This treatment simply involves the painless injection of the product into the area to instantly restore lost volume and smooth out lines, folds and hollows, resulting in a softer, more youthful appearance.

Treatment generally takes 20 to 30 minutes and, using a micro needle, the dermal filler is injected to instantly restore volume, softening lines and wrinkles.

Topical and local anaesthesia are used to prevent discomfort during the procedure. Depending on the area being treated and the amount of volume loss present, a second session may be required to achieve the desired result

Areas responding well to dermal fillers

  • Nasal-labial (nose to mouth lines)
  • Marionette lines (mouth to chin)
  • Lift the corners of the mouth.
  • Enhance thin lips (lip augmentation)
  • Eradicate wrinkles around the lips (e.g. smoker’s lines)
  • Restore volume loss in the cheeks (cheek augmentation)
  • Soften lines in any area of the face (e.g. forehead & frown lines)
  • Straighten bumps in the nose
  • Soften heel pads in the feet

These products are capable of holding a thousand times their own weight in water and so by replacing the lost HA in our skin, they alleviate the signs of ageing and also restore moisture.

This rehydration treatment can create a glowing complexion by replenishing hyaluronic acid in the skin. This improves hydro balance to increase skin elasticity and improve skin structure.

What is  Restylane Replacement Therapy anyway?

Dermal Replacement Therapy helps to replace your natural collagen, which is a protein that supports the skin and gives it its youthful tone and suppleness. Natural collagen is gradually lost from the skin as time passes, leading to facial lines and wrinkles.

During treatment, a few simple injections are given under the surface of the skin to help “fill out” and smooth away lines or wrinkles, acne scars or other facial lines. The effects are seen straight away!

Dermal filler Replacement Therapy is completely different from using cosmetics or moisturisers, which can only work on the surface. Because it actually works from within your skin. Collagen can make an immediate and noticeable to the way you look.

But how will I know it’s right for me?
Of course, Dermal Filler Replacement Therapy isn’t for everyone and it’s always a very personal decision. Even if it does sound interesting to you, it is important to talk to your practitioner about whether your skin condition is suitable and to find out how much improvement you can really expect. But it’s good to know that there are so many areas that can improved, such as frown lines, crow’s feet and lipstick lines.

Is RESTYLANE only for wrinkles?
Dermal Filler can also be used to make more of their lips natural shape and outline. So it’s not just the problems of older skin that can be treated in this way (and it’s not just film stars that have it done!).

Does it hurt?
The whole thing only takes about half an hour. The needle is very fine and rather than feel pain, you’ll probably just feel a little uncomfortable. This sensation will disappear quickly.  There might also be a little temporary redness.

How long does it last?
The injected filler doesn’t stay in the skin forever. It is gradually absorbed by the body, in the same way as the natural protein, so that treatment needs topping up from time to time to keep the new look.

How often do I have to be treated?
Everyone’s skin is different, and you will have to discuss your own treatment plan with your practitioner. Usually a top-up is needed twice a year.

Is it a risky procedure?
There have now been over 10,000,000 (Ten Million!!!) facial treatments with RESYLANE products over the last 15 years.

Is it really expensive?
It could be money well spent because it lasts so long. Prices range from about £200 to £800 depending on individual needs.
