“IT MUST BE MY HORMONES”
Whether it’s realising that you’re at that time of the month, when you cry at adverts on the television or when you get a parking ticket, or the roller-coasters of puberty, pregnancy and menopause, 99.9 per cent of women have felt a slave to their hormones at some point in their lives. It is crucial to understand the important part hormones play in both our reproductive and overall health and then realise how much we can do through nutrition and lifestyle to have a positive effect on our hormones:- From boosting fertility to easing symptoms of PMS and menopause.
It must be my hormones:
Getting your life on track with the help of natural bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
Balancing hormones – Concentrating on health – Improving energy
The Stratford Dermatherapy Clinic believes in maintaining health by balancing hormones and preventing disease.
When your body is feeling good and working well, it is rather like an Orchestra playing a wonderful symphony, by instruments that are all finely tuned. If the 4th string on the 3rd violin should break, the the cellist may have to up his game a bit…..this compensation is fine in the short-term, but if we COMPENSATE for too long we may develop outward signs and symptoms of DISEASE and ILLNESS.
Our aim is to inform, guide and recommend treatments that enable you to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. We pride ourselves on listening closely to your needs, really understanding your concerns and creating personalised treatments that keep you healthy. We seek to empower you with knowledge, so that you can make informed decisions and look after your own health on a daily basis.

Hi Dr Kitchen,
I would like to thank you for your outstanding support and guidance in helping me gain my health back, you truly were a wild card and last attempt for me regaining a sense of health wellbeing and get my life back, which has paid off tremendously.
I had experienced eight years of battling with the menopause and been under both the Queen Elizabeth hospital and paid privately along the way, of which neither had worked for any length of time, I would get a few weeks relapse only for the symptoms to return…. it was hell, if I could say that I had been desperate is an understatement, many months off work and feeling very isolated both mentally and physically .
So from the bottom of my heart thank you!!!…I HOPE OTHER WOMEN will be able to receive your help and support and the real message around the menopause,
Many thanks !! Best wishes. JC.
Dear Dr Hugo
Update – Thyroid Treatment
Just wanted to update you and thank you so much for helping me get my health and life back!
Before I had all my blood tests done and treatment from you I was feeling like a shell of my former self. All my life I have been very active with daily fitness classes and healthy diet so I was totally perplexed when I was feeling constantly exhausted with EXTREME FATIGUE, low mood, having difficulty concentrating, slurring my speech at times, brain fog, dry skin, thin brittle nails, hair thinning, insomnia, intermittent numbness in hands, feet, limbs, sore muscles and FREEZING COLD despite being in a warm ambient temperature.
I gained weight really easily (despite clean eating) mainly on the abdomen and would bloat and often wake up with my face very puffy and swollen. I felt absolutely dreadful, just doing the most basic of tasks. I spent most evenings shivering under a pile of blankets, body feeling too painful and too heavy to move. These symptoms had a real impact on my work and relationships.
My own GP suspected thyroid issue but only tested the TSH which was in range so I was told by the GP I would have to live with the symptoms, which was a very depressing prospect. Fortunately you were able to make a difference. The FULL PANEL of bloods tests you did revealed low T3 and a conversion issue, which I would have never have known about otherwise and so pleased you were able to treat me.
I am thrilled to say that the prescription you have given me is working. Thank you for listening and adjusting doses as and when needed. I am improving all the time, my stamina and energy has improved immensely. I feel energised after exercising, sleep better, mind more focused and not feeling the cold chills so often. The bloating is starting to improve and can finally feel my waistline slowly returning. The muscle pains/numbness gone, skin much softer, positive mood and have a feeling of total wellbeing of the mind and body. I feel fantastic, thank you!
I just wanted to put pen to paper to say a massive thank you for some advice you gave me regarding ongoing migraines.
Having suffered with severe migraine on a regular basis for many years, worsening during the menopause, I have, over the years, been on many preventative medications and also had to take a large number of triptans when I have had headaches.
I did respond to the latter but probably overused them, resulting in rebound headaches. Having been on yet another preventative drug to no avail I was coming off before setting about starting on the next one that had been prescribed. Just at that time I accompanied a friend to Stratford who had an appointment with you and we got chatting in reception. We had a brief conversation about migraines and you simply said to me, co-enzyme Q-10. I took it with a pinch of salt (not literally) as over the years have had so many suggestions, remedies etc and none have worked but thought I would give it a try as the timing was good before I set off on yet another new preventative.
Within a month my migraines had reduced by around 90%. Totally amazed by this result I just want to thank you so much for literally changing my life. I now take a product called Dolovent which also includes magnesium, also recommended for migraine prevention. It has now been almost 6 months and I have had about 2 migraines in that time.
Thank you, thank you.
About Bio-Identical Hormones
The Clinic uses bio-identical hormones to treat hormonal imbalances in men and women. Bio- identical hormones have the same molecular structure as those found in your own body. They are extensively used as an alternative option to synthetic hormones as used in conventional hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Bio-identical hormones are consistent with your normal biochemistry. Bio-identical hormones are derived from diosgenin, which is sourced from soya beans and Mexican yams. They need to be prescribed by a doctor and prescriptions are designed for each individual patient.
Bio-identical hormone therapy (BHRT) is usually administered in the form of creams, lozenges or capsules. The treatments are then compounded under strict guidelines of good manufacturing practice by a specialist pharmacist.
Both women and men need a balanced endocrine system, as hormones regulate every function in our body. When our hormones are well adjusted, we feel healthy, energetic and more in control of our lives. As we age, there is a naturally occurring decline in hormones such as oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Balancing these hormones can have a wide-range of significant health benefits in treating the following symptoms:
- Dry and wrinkled skin
- Memory loss
- Low libido and vaginal dryness
- Erectile dysfunction and diminished libido
- Hot flushes and night sweats
- Erectile dysfunction and diminished libido
- Hot flushes and night sweats
- Mood swings and depression
- High cholesterol
- Sleep disturbances
- Decreased strength and lean body mass
Men and women can benefit from Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) because it can provide relief from a wide range of symptoms during menopause, andropause (male menopause) and other hormone related conditions such as pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS), endometriosis, menstrual problems and metabolic syndrome. Bio-identical hormone therapy is beneficial for the maintenance of cardiovascular health, bone density, memory and mood, as well as supporting the body’s ability to maintain health, energy, happiness and confidence.
Bio-identical progestogen hormone, progesterone, has been shown to be safer than non-bio-identical progestogens in relation to the risks of developing breast cancer. This does not imply that all Bio-Identical Hormones are therefore safer than synthetic hormones.
We offer compounded hormones to patients in bespoke combinations, doses and preparations. In its uncompounded form, the bio-identical progestogen hormone, progesterone, has been shown to be safer than non-bio-identical progestogens in relation to the risks of developing breast cancer. This does not imply that Bio-Identical Hormones are therefore safer than synthetic hormones or that compounded BHRT is safer than non-bioidentical progestogens in relation to the risks of developing breast cancer.
At the Stratford Dermatherapy Clinic we offer a range of services that aim to restore you to your optimal hormonal balance. Before prescribing, we decipher your unique hormonal make-up based on specific blood tests.
Bio-Identical hormones offer an alternative and we do not seek to undermine nor diminish extensive work that has been done over the years with synthetic hormones. This exciting world of rehabilitative and regenerative medicine is striving to give objective and unbiased information so that patients may make an informed decisions on how best to approach and manage their symptom presentation.
Our services include:
- Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement
- Thyroid Therapy Treatment
- Cosmetic Medical Treatments
The results are analysed by your doctor, who will make any necessary changes to your medication where indicated. All men and women undergoing Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy are required to have an annual check-up with one of our doctors, before further medication will be prescribed. We have provided an illustrative treatment schedule. Whilst many of our patients follow this pattern, individual needs will dictate your particular treatment schedule.
Initial Consultation – 45 minutes Your doctor will spend time understanding your history and symptoms, making an initial assessment of your condition and will take blood tests. Cost £580
First Follow-up Appointment – 15/30 minutes Approximately one week later will get a call from the Clinic to review your test results, receive advice on managing your symptoms and order your bespoke prescriptions. These cost on average around £3 per day
Second Follow-up Appointment – 30 minutes About 10 weeks later, you will return to see your doctor and review your progress with the prescribed medication. This will involve repeat blood tests of specific hormones that were “Sub-Optimal”. Any required adjustments to your prescription will be made. Cost £380
Third Follow-up Appointment – 30 minutes Six months later, you will again return to see your doctor for a progress review. Further tests may be required; otherwise repeat prescriptions will be issued where necessary. Repeat bloods will cost £380
Regular reviews Every 6-12 months we ask that you return to see your doctor for a review of your symptoms and medication. Please note that it is a legal requirement that we see our patients on at least an annual basis if we are to continue prescribing medication.
Considerable attention and research has been done and continues, in order to demonstrate the safety of Bio-Identicals. Our goal is only to improve quality of life.
