Stem cells help the body to naturally heal and regenerate. They communicate by producing and releasing proteins called cytokines and growth factors. The controlled release of these substances by the stem cells in our bodies activate biochemical pathways within the adjacent cells, commanding and controlling essential processes within the body.
When we are young, we have a high number of healthy and robust stem cells in our bodies, all secreting potent cytokines which allow for rapid healing and regeneration of the skin.
As we get older, our stem cell count diminishes and the ones that we have become less active. As a result, the skin’s ability to renew and repair itself begins to deplete.
Calecim® re-engages the skin’s natural healing ability by replenishing the lost cytokines and growth factors. Applying Calecim® topically helps to create the perfect medium for healthy skin regeneration and rejuvenation, revealing younger, more glowing skin which is supple, smooth and plump.
Other cells such as fibroblasts and keratinocytes do secrete growth factors, however, stem cell growth factors are unique in that they encourage cell repair and regeneration of the skin, more actively than cytokines which are secreted by cells that are not stem cells.
Many alternative skin products available from stores and pharmacies, use growth factors which are not derived from stem cells, but skin cells, making them less effective at repairing and rejuvenating the skin, than Calecim®.
Treatments such as these can mean that the skin undergoes a period of healing. Usually with more intensive laser treatments, this can mean a few days to a week or so, where the skin may be red, sensitive and peeling. Calecim® can be so effective in helping the skin to heal and regenerate following a laser session, that many of our patients are experiencing
very little recovery time and may even find that their skin looks better the next day! With medical microneedling, there is also a period of downtime, but we are also creating micro-channels in to the deeper layers of the skin. Therefore, using Calecim® after such a treatment means the serum can penetrate the skin more effectively through these channels and significant improvement in the skin’s tone, texture and rate of healing can be seen.
